1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
Come into the library to register for this new program.
The goal is to encourage adults to read to children at young ages. Reading is one-on-one time that is soothing and interactive. It also promotes language development, bonding, patience and pre-reading skills that prepare children for learning in kindergarten and beyond.
Best of all — it’s fun!
Families in the program will receive book tracker sheets to count each 250 books they read (and yes, if you read the same book four times, it counts four times!). Complete the sheet, and then stop in for a prize and a new sheet for the next 250. Children who reach 1,000 books will receive a prize and recognition on a display in the library.
