Learning coaches

The library offers one-on-one (or two) training sessions called Learning Coaches. These sessions cover a specific topic of interest (such as setting up an email account, downloading an ebook, researching family history, or learning to use the create space equipment). This service is intended for patrons 9th grade and older at all skill levels who need to get more comfortable with specific activities before working on their own.

Sample topics we will coach:

  • Basic Internet skills
  • Basic Photo editing
  • Creating a resume or cover letter
  • Downloading eBooks or Audiobooks
  • Genealogy research using library databases
  • How to use tablets and smartphones: Nook, Kindle, iPad, and Android-based devices
  • Library databases
  • Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher
  • Utilizing Create Space equipment
  • Windows 7 and 10

If there is a topic you would like to learn that is not listed, please see Shawn Walsh, Emerging Services and Technologies Librarian, or call 440-428-2189.

  • Adobe Products
  • Any request that violates state and federal law
  • Fixing appliances/devices
  • Accounting or Tax software
  • Specialized, job-related software
  • Windows OS Errors
  • Typing on a patron’s behalf

Topics are limited by software the Library has access to and staff knowledge. We reserve the right to deny a coaching request based on these and other criteria.

      • We do not remove viruses or repair devices. This is strictly for educational purposes only. If we determine the coach is no longer fulfilling its purpose as an educational exercise, we will end the session.
